We all know that the world of the media is fickle, to say the least. A tragic event is only ever one big football match away from being obscured.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has been largely superseded (in column inches) by events in Gaza. However, Ukraine figures higher in the news than DRC, where my friend Anna works with Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF). The conflict between M23 rebels and the government is massively underreported.
This strata is both understandable and frustrating. I fully realise we can only take so much, and what’s current is current, and that is dynamic.
As ever, I am rambling. Here is an update of MSF’s work in Ukraine and some background on the conflict in DRC. Real people in desperate need are at the end of this coverage. Many other articles are hidden away only to be seen if sought—real lives destroyed by power, greed, fear and paranoia.
