Starbeck Sirens WI Cake Judging!

It is very rare for me to regret being vegan. I made my decision many years ago and try to live by these principles at all times. Tonight I had one or two regrets.

In August we gave them our presentation about Médecins Sans Frontières and the USA bike ride. Tonight we were invited to return as guests to judge the 2017 Sirens Bake Off.

Tracey was tasked with sampling and judging the wonderful cakes, buns and scones you see above. I made notes and recorded her comments.

In the end winners were announced in each of the three categories and then the supreme baker – Margaret (4th photo) came to collect her certificate to thunderous applause and mass adulation.

This was a lovely friendly evening at a fantastic WI group. I would wholeheartedly recommend them if you are looking to join. They are welcoming, kind and a great deal of fun.

Finally, guess what, one of the wonderful ladies made some vegan brownies so I left there a very happy man.

Thank you from both Tracey and I.

  1. It was truly a lovely evening Andy and you and Tracey were wonderful guests. Tracey – what a trooper – was a marvellous judge, making lovely comments about all the entries as well as sampling them all. Thank you so much and Starbeck Sirens wish you both well in all your fundraising and support of MSF. I know you made some loyal friends last night – I am sure they will always be happy to bake you a cake or two to help in your efforts. Thank you both so much for helping to make our evening so happy.
