Scarletts Vintage Tea Room, Knaresbrough.

I would like to thank my friend and long term MSF supporter Sarah, the owner of Scarletts Vintage Tea Room for running an incredible fundraiser this last weekend. I was totally bowled over when Sarah proposed this event as it involved her donating an entire days takings from the tea rooms to Doctors Without Borders.

I asked Sarah if she wouldn’t mind writing a few lines telling people about her motivation for such an incredible act. Here is her message:

“Hi Andy, We recognised that throughout this pandemic we have been fortunate to have received financial support to enable us to survive and since reopening I have been overwhelmed by the support the public had given us by coming to the tearoom and ensuring that we have had a really successful summer.

Having seen some Of the news coverage of Lebanon and Yemen it made me feel even more grateful for the support we have had . We are fortunate that we are not trying to live with and deal with war hunger and displacement as well as Covid!

Having talked to Andy and Tracey over the years I am very aware of the amazing work of MSF and it seemed fitting to donate a days takings to help those suffering far greater hardship that ourselves.

The success of Sunday 30th was down to a team effort; my partner,  kids and family who were so supportive of this idea, my customers on the day, many of whom made additional donations, all my fantastic  staff, Andrew ( Mr Vegan Cakes ) who works at the tearoom and donated a batch of doughnuts, Bill and Sian who donated African Violets to sell and of course Andy and Tracey for all the promotional materials they provided and of course for being the inspiration behind this donation.

I am thrilled at our donation of £590.06 can make such a difference to the lives of those MSF are supporting”.

Once again I find myself totally in awe of the kindness of others. Thank you to Sarah and everyone mentioned in the message above.

Scarletts Vintage Tearoom is in Green Dragon Yard in the very centre of Knaresbrough, it was the venue for the murder mystery evening that Tracey ran as an MSF fundraiser in 2017. It is a wonderful 1940s / 50s themed cafe with loads of interesting reading material and artefacts. The staff are wonderful, friendly, helpful and as you can see incredibly generous. It is THE place for vegan and vegetarian food in Knaresbrough.
