Day 40

49 miles easy ride but with technical problems.

A late start for both a good and bad reason. The good was enjoying breakfast in Nickerson with June and some other cyclists. The bad was that I found my bike had another broken spoke this morning. 

I found that the back wheel was catching on the brakes and quickly figured that this was due to a buckle caused by the broken spoke. I decided that I would chance the ride to Newton and to the expert hands of James and Heather at the Newton Bike Shop. 

Not only do these guys do wonders with bikes they also let cyclists stay at the shop, provide free (yes free) beer and have a lovely dog called Harley. 

The bikes of the people staying at the shop are washed, fixed, lubed and returned to the owner AFTER hours. James has a remarkable work ethic that means he regularly finishes at 2300 as with tonight. 

We will set off tomorrow with fully serviced and clean bikes.
