Last week I walked Hadrians wall from Wallsend to Bowness on Solway. 84 miles over six glorious days. Amazingly it only rained for about one hour during the day when we were walking. A few blisters developed over the first day or two but nothing too hideous. We camped for three nights and finished with a night in the Kings Arms in Bowness. Northumbria and Cumbria are truly beautiful, the walking was tough at times but the amazing views were worth every moment. Sara walked with me and was inspirational. She has raised a lot of sponsorship money with this walk and it will be going into the walka2b funds. The week was excellent in many ways, not least as it has given me a clear picture of the demands of walking day after day . It also confirmed that the kit I am using is all good (in the dry at least).
Related news is that I have a celebrity supporter, the lovely Joanna Lumley has sent a message in support of the cause. Please have a glance at the supporters section on the website. I have also had some great news from Bettys/Taylors of Harrogate (http://www.bettysandtaylors.co.uk/), they are very kindly going to make a sizeable donation to the funds which will take the total to nearly £2000. It is wonderful to have support from a local and prestigious organisation.
Finally, I was at a friends house yesterday , four of us were chatting and drinking coffee in the kitchen. Suddenly I plummeted to the floor and spent the next 10 seconds lying in the remains of a wooden chair that had collapsed . Dignity , always dignity.
