Fiddletown to Cooks Station
21 miles of pain
We left the B&B about 0900 this morning and for the next 7 hours we climbed and climbed. There were flat bits but they simply didn’t make up for the pain of the climbs.
We walked and pushed the bikes , there was no choice and no loss of face as far as I’m concerned. We climbed to 5000 ft by the time we made it to Cooks Station. We had regular stops and at one saw a beautiful deer.
It’s memorial weekend here so the roads are busy especially when we turned into highway 88 for the run into Cooks. The hills continue (to 8000 ft) tomorrow and for 30 miles . It’s going to be a long day.
We pitched our tent at the back of Cooks Station convenience store and had a very welcome meal while chatting to the staff.
A tiring day when at times I was about at my limit but we made it and we won’t let anyone including ourselves down.
