Day 25
60 miles and a bike service.
On the road at our normal 0530 and heading in the direction of some large mountains!
We cycled 60 miles of rolling hills climbing all the time but in truth it was fine. We passed lots of bean storage and packing companies on the way, some open some closed. We took a break in Pleasant View however the view was unspectacular and the cafe we we’re heading for was closed.
We soon turned and started a more protracted climb towards Dolores where I was keen to go to the bike shop (Lizard Head Cyclery). I was just going to pick up a few bits and bobs but the owner Nick immediately offered to look over our bikes and sort any problems. Boy did he sort things. The man worked for 3 hours on our 3 bikes, gave us a beer as he worked, chatted to us and did a thoroughly professional job. I can recommend this cycle shop to absolutely anyone passing through Dolores.
We left Dolores quite late and it was 1830 by the time we got to Priests Gultch. We have a lovely little cabin by the river and we are now settling for the night. A lovely family even gave us some food when they heard of our long day.
We are lucky people indeed.
