Day 45: Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings (TGS) Stage : Wild Camp in Olive Grove North of Balsa de Ves to Albacete

A early start once again. 0630 up and on the road just after 0700 hrs. We knew that the very first part of the day was going to be ultra hilly. We could see it on Komoot. We had to push the bikes most of the first half mile before cycling became possible. We put out a Facebook live broadcast and I’m sure we sounded desperate.

Eventually we got to the top of the mountain and the day took a turn for the better. Yes we were caught in a thunderstorm again and took a bit of a soaking but the terrain levelled out and we were able to actually make proper forward progress.

We called into a couple of towns on the road to Albacete . We just stopped for a drink and 20 mins or so off the bikes.

We passed a cave house in a rock face. This was interesting because it was a cave house but also because of the amazing fossils in the walls. The people / authorities locally do nothing with this amazing place, it’s a real shame and a definite day highlight.

It was about 1530hrs when we arrived at the hotel in Albacete. We were so happy to have a shower and get proper rest. We are pretty shattered after these last 3 days of hard core hill work. We will rest and re- gather. It’s important that we keep positive and we are. Through your generosity , this fundraiser is making an enormous difference so thank you for your donations and for your kindness and ongoing support.
