Right now, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is providing urgently needed medical care and support in more than 40 countries to counter the new coronavirus disease. This is a massive undertaking as in many cases they are working in countries that do not have functioning medical systems. Imagine, you are ill and there is no 999, no 111 and a hospital 60 miles + away with no transport and insecurity on roads. This is the reality facing many for whom MSF work.
I know times are hard and there is uncertainty about employment and wages. I am still going to ask you to help because I have to , it is vital that MSF continue to support the most desperate people on the planet.
The following is a quote from James Orbinski, Médecins Sans Frontières, Oslo, on 10th December 1999 at the presentation of the Nobel prize to MSF , “Our volunteers and staff live and work among people whose dignity is violated every day. These volunteers choose freely to use their liberty to make the world a more bearable place. Despite grand debates on world order, the act of humanitarianism comes down to one thing: individual human beings reaching out to their counterparts who find themselves in the most difficult circumstances”.
