We left Compiegne this morning and immediately entered the beautiful Foret Domaniale de Compiegne where we walked for the next 10km or so. It was again a gorgeous day, warm with the sun breaking through the trees on occasions and creating a perfect backdrop for the day. We walked well and made it out of the woods  near Orrouy.

As we left the woods we came across some Roman ruins (though I think they had been discovered a while ago) . The Ruines Gallo-Ronaines de Champlieu was a great place for a break. We sat at the top of the Roman Theatre and ate peanuts. It was very relaxing.

We pressed on to Crepy en Vamois and arrived at 1745. We needed somewhere to stay and asked a lady near the Church. It was the best question I have asked since the walk began. Within 30 minutes we were guests in the beautiful home of Jacques and Marie Lorain.  These wonderful people have taken us in, made us amazing food and offered nothing but friendship. Jacques and Marie – Thank you.

I close todays blog with a great sense of happiness. People like Mr and Mrs Lorain remind me yet again that the world is full of warm and caring people.
