Beals Point To Fiddletown

Day 3

Beals Point to Fiddletown

45 miles – Getting hilly!

We left Beals Point Campsite this morning and made for a Subway and 7- Eleven for breakfast and supplies. I can’t say I have eaten 2 foot long Veggie sandwiches for breakfast before so today is a genuine first.

The day was variable in difficulty with fairly reasonable out of Beals Point giving way to soul damaging climbs as we enter the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

Plymouth was a small town made special by the people as ever. Dianne’s saloon offered us the most friendly of welcomes. Dianne (a former Bunny Girl who has photos of her modelling days along with a group photo with Hugh Hefner) allowed us to bring the bikes into her bar for safekeeping. We chatted with her, a chap called Luke and Robert who showed us some very charming photos of his goats, chickens, dogs and ducks. The place was a treat. We dragged ourselves out and continued on to Fiddletown an old stagecoach stop that used to have shops, bars and a brothel. Sadly all are gone these days though they do have Browns English Toffee Shop!

We arrived at our B&B about 1900 and settled into a comfortable room before having a nice warm shower.

A proper bed well earned.
