Day 10 of the Ansell stage and once again a good days cycling, more hills creeping in all the time now. This will be the form as we head east towards the Jura Mountains and our first really big day on day challenge. We call these fundraisers “challenges” and they are, we both face our limits at times and keep going. I remind myself frequently that however difficult a day I may be having it is nothing compared to the adversity facing the beneficiaries of MSF’s care .

We always find lovely things in the day , usually in human form! Yesterday we met Mart whom we both found inspiring. Today was a more visually uplifting day with fairly big climbs at times giving us nice views over the beautiful countryside.

The Seine before the climbs!

Frequently, my view was Traceys shapely rear as I puffed and panted to keep up. We went up one hill that was totally outrageous and I had to get off and push – Im ashamed!

My view for much of the day – could be worse!

We found Napoleon in Montreal-Fault-Yonne, we sat and cobbled together crude sandwiches by the river as a little rain started to fall. This is a pre-curser to tomorrows predicted downpour that is meant to begin tonight – we will see.

We made it into Pont Sur Yonne about 1730, cooked some pasta on a bench overlooking the river Yonne and then had a brief stroll through the town. It was quite lively for a Sunday with a few bars open with people chatting , smoking and drinking.

Its 2300hrs now and I am worn out so heading to bed .

Once again , thank you all for your support, please share our fundraising work with your friends as well as the link to donate : https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/andy-dennis
