This coming week is a big one in terms of my fundraising for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders. On Wednesday, I am giving my presentation to the U3A in Wetherby and on Thursday I will be joining my friends Barbara and Alan to collect at Simon Reeve’s gig in Halifax.
The last time we attended a Simon Reeve presentation he was kind enough to announce our presence on stage and we raised over £1000. This was at the end of ‘23 at the Royal Hall in Harrogate and I’m very much hoping that we can match that in Halifax.
One thing is for sure, the need is just as great if not greater now than it was this time last year. I have said on a number of occasions that the fundraising allows me to feel I have a minuscule degree of influence on what happens in the world. This may well be delusionary however, it’s all I’ve got.
